A GIS Vision for an Armed Forces Organization

C3I technology is just beginning to be used in armed forces organizations. As GIS is an integral part of C3I technology, GIS also is just beginning to be in continuous use. To achieve a common use, as common as use of weapons or vehicles it is necessary to understand the information warfare and its nature, the use of GIS as a planning and combat conduct assistance tool, the problems with unlimited worldwide use of geographic data for GIS, the needs for international GIS interoperability between national forces, the prospects for simple training, and overall implementation in order to obtain daily use of GIS. This presentation will emphasize a couple of these aspects.
