Rapid Applications for Deregulated Utilities in the Open Development Environment

Michael Hatmaker

A tiny C++ wrapper around the ArcInfo C language ODE interface provides the capability for building ARCPLOT or ARCEDIT quickly in a C++ program. An electric device network tracing program is built on this GUI and drawing canvas. GUI features are built in the HUSH (HyperUtilitySHell) Tcl/Tk analogous to the Microsoft Foundation Classes. ArcInfo and ARCPLOT commands are created and executed from within the C++ code, invoked from menus and buttons. Tcl provides a command line interpreter at which Tcl/Tk commands or ArcInfo ARCPLOT commands can be issued. The extensive Tk cross-platform GUI widgets can be created either in Tc/Tk or by the C++/HUSH program.
