Using GIS for Routing and Accessing Prefire Information from Within the Response Vehicle

The City of Winston-Salem's INFO system was developed through a matching funds TIIAP grant from the Department of Commerce. This project was an innovative approach to providing response critical information to aid in a fire officer's decision making process. During this presentation we will demonstrate the use of two components of the INFO system: the GIS-based apparatus routing component and the decision support imaging component. Both components reside on a touch screen ruggedized mobile data computer. The authors of this paper are Julia Conley, Tim Lesser, and Lee Nichols.
