GIS in Naval Warfare, Swedish Thoughts

The Swedish Navy is a part of the Swedish Armed Forces. It structures and adapts GeoPres as the foundation for geographic presentation and analysis. Tools are being purchased that will ensure procurement, production, and safe delivery of data for Navy use in GeoPres and other systems. Simulators and weapon and sensor systems are modified so that they will have the capability to receive standard GeoPres data sets. Underwater GIS is slowly but surely entering the naval community. Future demands for three-dimensional viewing and analysis present new and challenging dimensions. The Navy will need a large quantity of high-resolution geographical information and numerous GIS related tools. Do we know which ones?
