The research here summarized deals with an approach to relational models developed by the heterogeneous data survey and managed on geographic information systems built with ArcInfo as a contribution to the description of a complex and dynamic basin like the one around the Basilica of Saint Marcus in Venice. The Department of Ingegeria Idraulica Ambientale e del Rilevamento (section Rilevamento) of the Politecnico di Milano has developed the organization of data in a geographic information system on behalf of the Magistrato delle Acque di Venezia with the supervision of the procuratoria of San Marco. A hypothesis of a GIS to support the management of the seawater of the basin and the project of conservation of the mosaic surfaces has been supposed and described a data model to manage the acquisition and processing of the heterogeneous data survey realized from 1970 (the horizontal and altimetric sections, the photogrammetric restitutions, raster and vector, contour level, and digital orthophoto projections georeferenced to the DTM).
