Clarksville/Montgomery County was selected among four other counties to implement Tennessee's Statewide Automated Land Records GIS, a joint project for Clarksville/Montgomery County, Tennessee, and Austin Peay State University. The County was handed its tax/parcel data in a turnkey system put together by SDS Inc. Also, the latest orthophotos were delivered in an automated format. The City/County along with the local university (Geology and Geography Department) formed a joint committee to take advantage of the newly acquired data and technology to implement a push to bring other (~25) local government entities into the modern world of high-end computing and GIS technology. This is the ground floor of that push. This paper will be the first year's start-up implementation of this multipurpose Land Records GIS and my own transition from DoD GIS work to local government GIS work.
