It's Show Time! Using GIS as a Dynamic Presentation Tool
Track:  Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice
Author:   Orlando James McDowelle
As the use of GIS grows, the need to present analyses performed with GIS has also increased. No longer is it sufficient to present static reports and maps. To meet the demands of management and customers it is necessary to run GIS applications during meetings. This paper discusses various tools and techniques that are needed to create dynamic presentations with GIS. An application used by the New Orleans Police Department to present crime data is used to demonstrate the functionality, stability, and performance needed to use GIS as a presentation tool.
