A unique collaboration between private hospitals and the Hamilton County General Health District has resulted in a comprehensive local injury surveillance system. This surveillance system utilizes GIS technology to prioritize injury types for intervention, ascertain high-risk groups, and evaluate prevention efforts. The Hamilton County Injury Surveillance System (HCISS) will provide communities within Hamilton County, Ohio, with valid epidemiological information allowing them to assess community safety and initiate their own prevention projects.
