The development of an AM/FM/GIS project in a telephone company (TELCO) is complex and requires people with a clear vision about the purpose of this kind of project. This paper provides ideas to AM/FM/GIS project managers and teams about the different phases in project development.
The paper begins with an introduction to AM/FM, followed by the reasons an AM/FM/GIS project is implemented in telephone companies. The steps of project implementation are briefly discussed. These steps are functional user requirements, hardware/software selection, product specifications, software customization, pilot projects, batch data conversion, and ongoing operation.
