PP&L, Inc., has successfully deployed Miner and Miner GIS applications including MMEDIT, MMVIEW, and JP/DE. Two hundred employees of various job classifications utilize these GIS tools. We accomplished this by developing and maintaining an effective vendor relationship. Together we formulated a comprehensive test plan and problem tracking/resolution system. Development strategy included both an extensive lab testing plan and field implementation in a pilot area. Problems encountered and overcome included ambiguous specifications for new application functionality, failing to realize the importance of buy-in from our IS department, and PP&L staff lacking in extensive ArcInfo experience.
