The King County Department of Transportation's Transit Division's GIS group has developed a security incident data entry, reporting, and analysis system. This system is used by Transit staff to track and report on incidents as well as analyze spatial/temporal trends to provide better deployment of security personnel. It is composed of three pieces: a Visual Basic data entry application with a small MapObjects component and data stored in an Oracle database, a Web reporting system incorporating HTML and Java scripts, and a security incident module within a larger Transit object spatial analysis tool built using Visual Basic and MapObjects. This system demonstrates effective use of various technologies to accommodate different functions and targeted users.
