Investigating Active Learning Strategies for GIS Education

We will report on the findings of the National Science Foundation funded GIS ACCESS project. GIS ACCESS is investigating active learning pedagogy as an alternative tool for providing GIS education in secondary schools, community colleges, and universities and four-year colleges. Active learning strategies explored in a series of summer 1999 institutes for instructors in grades 9-16 will be examined.
