The challenge that faces FORMA Systems' Tejon Ranch Geographical Information System (TeRGIS) is to track the many disparate and diverse activities on the Tejon Ranch. The 270,000-acre Tejon Ranch is one of the largest privately owned properties in California. Historically, the Tejon Ranch has been an operating cattle ranch since the early 1800s. In addition to ranching, there are many agricultural activities including vineyards, groves, and row crops. TeRGIS will be used to locate and monitor maintenance of facilities, track the use of fertilizer and pesticide, and calculate diverse crop yields. Applications of GPS may also be used to identify cattle location and movement on the ranch.
