Jasper National Park is using an ArcInfo geographic information system to model cumulative effects of human disturbance on wolf habitat effectiveness and movement patterns. The models accommodate "what if" scenarios, enabling investigation of land use management alternatives. The graphic user interface provides a user-friendly environment. The models have the flexibility of overriding default parameters, allowing the user to address changes in expert knowledge or to transfer the models to other study areas.
