How to manage a number of warehouses that store grain over a very large geographical extent becomes a very difficult problem due to much processing graphic work. A distributed management system of stored grain in the ArcView GIS environment has been developed to implement effective management of such warehouses. Our experience shows that the distributed management system improves stored grain quality, increases management efficiency, and has important economic benefits for the grain storage industries. Many experiences and conclusions from our discussion may be further used to develop better commercial GIS software.
