United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UN ECE)-Trans-European Railway with the Project Central Office (TER PCO) in Budapest collects data concerning railways in central and eastern Europe. New technologies and current methods have induced us to rearrange the existing database to be more powerful and user-friendly. The project of database rearrangement was decided to be divided into steps including redefinition of data model, GIS design, and Internet-oriented application. The following paper surveys our previous activities on this project involving handling of the problems that emerged during the work as well as future projections.
