The Land Boundary Information System (LABINS) began in 1984 as a means for distributing Florida survey-related data maintained and managed by federal and State agencies. The original system was on mainframe computers using dial-in modems. Today LABINS is available over the Internet and has been greatly enhanced by the addition of digital images of the original documents that support the textual databases. LABINS also includes downloadable DOQQ, DRG, and DLG data. This discussion covers (a) the various types of Florida data available at the LABINS Web site and (b) how the site's mapping interface (MapObjects IMS) can be used as a tool for data distribution.
