This paper will address the challenge of finding exactly the required information in multiple information sources. Corporate data may be very different in nature and may reside anywhere geographically. Therefore, it may not be easy to find specific information for the average user. Statoil, a Norwegian-based oil company, has implemented a pilot system showing that an interactive Web-based GIS system can act as an intuitive interface to corporate data. The concept of navigating in data will be discussed, and we will highlight key issues in our work from idea to installed system. Finally, we will indicate areas where interactive Web-based GIS can assist in information retrieval.
