Information that is time-consuming to locate and difficult to use is an obstacle to efficient and effective business processes. One of the major advantages of an Internet/Intranet-based GIS is the power to quickly provide geospatial information with tabular record information and make it readily available throughout the organization. ArcView Internet Map Server, employed at Kadena AB, Japan, is enhancing and creating new ways of doing business on this U.S. military installation. This session focuses on the change in business processes and the positive impact an effective Internet Map Server has on an organization. It is presented using a before and after comparison and also shares some basic technical issues as well as organizational lessons learned from the implementation.
