Tourism has always been one of the major industries in Lebanon. Using GIS technologies, Khatib & Alami developed a user-friendly application for tourism. The digital data included governmental, cultural, historical, and entertainment sites in the country, particularly Beirut. The main objective of the project was to allow users of different backgrounds, regardless of their GIS or IT knowledge, to explore Lebanon's attractions and to find their way around. ArcView GIS and its extensions--Dialog Designer and ArcView Network Analyst--were used through Avenue to customize one of the most exciting tourist GIS applications in Lebanon.
