FedEx spends over $140 million annually in distributing customer supplies free of charge to customers. The Department of Strategic Sourcing and Customer Supplies in Federal Express is currently working with the Department of Operations Research and Spatial Applications to develop a global supply chain model to address FedEx worldwide customer supplies logistics. The proposed model will determine the optimum locations of supplies manufacturing facilities and distribution centers to serve worldwide FedEx stations and service centers. This paper demonstrates the use of GIS (ArcView GIS and ArcView Network Analyst) in global supply chain modeling and analysis. Several model inputs and thematic maps were generated using ArcView GIS.
