Track:  Ecology, Conservation, and Archaeology
Author:   Tim Krantz

The Salton Sea Database Program is a congressionally-funded program to collect existing data, analyze it, and serve the information back to decision makers, stakeholders, and the concerned public regarding evaluation of engineering alternatives to restore the sea. The SSDP supports a watershed-scale planning effort, covering an area of more than 8,300 square miles of southeastern California and Mexico, extending to the Sea of Cortes. The SSDP achieves this through its digital library, GIS, and Internet services.
