Interfacing between SAP and Esri is more than just a technical problem. SAP and Esri model data in different ways, and matching these two data models is the first piece of the puzzle. Decisions first need to be made on which data is shared and what navigation is required between the two systems. Knowing what is possible at a technical level is crucial in making these decisions. Esri-Australia was successful at interfacing to SAP as part of the implementation of ArcFM at AlintaGas in Perth, Western Australia. This paper discusses the problems faced and the solution implemented.
