It is becoming harder to recruit and retain qualified GIS staff to support the use of GIS and carry out more complex analysis. This paper will discuss the establishment of multidepartmental/Ministry Geomatic Service Centres to address some of these issues. The use of the Service Centres to support two land use planning initiatives in Ontario will be discussed.
