In this paper we present the environmental information system (EIS) based on the Atlas of the Yugoslavian Environment. The system consists of two parts: macro, with global information about geology, geomorphology, clime, flora, and fauna, and micro, with information about local population, industry, etc. By combining GIS and the above information we are able to analyze and create impact assessments of the environment at every moment. Such a system is necessary for national and local management and for making decisions in spatial planning and land use.
