Track:  Ecology, Conservation, and Archaeology
Author:   Jay S. Arnold

Technological advancements continue to allow faster and more accurate mapping of the earth's diminishing resources. 3001, Inc. (formerly Vernon F. Meyer and Associates, Inc.), provided surveying, mapping, data conversion, and GIS services using the latest technological advances as part of an effort to restore the natural characteristics of Florida's Kissimmee River basin. The basin has been altered through channel dredging and water flow control. The work is being performed under contract with the Jacksonville District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD). 3001 delivered products in Esri formats. This presentation focuses on the use of digital mapping products and GIS applications for ecological restoration.
