For the last few years the Municipality of Cali, Colombia, has been engaged in an ambitious GIS project. The project involves the implementation of an open GIS platform for planners and common citizens that will have simple Internet GIS user interfaces to query vital data from the City's planning databases. The paper will discuss the system's benefit to the City and the planning division. It will also present a vision of the implementation process in a Latin American environment.
