This paper takes a look at how GIS has helped the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office notify the public of convicted sex offenders under Megan's Law. Armed with a custom ArcView GIS application and a mobile GPS unit, the prosecutors have expedited the notification process and have greatly improved the accuracy of their data for court battles. Monmouth County felt responsible to attack this nationwide problem because of its prominent role in the development of Megan's Law.
