Building Partnerships: Using an NSDI Clearinghouse Grant to Foster Collaboration and Data Sharing in the Shenandoah Valley Region of Virginia
Track:  Universities and Higher Education
Author:   James W. Wilson

The Center for Geographic Information Science at James Madison University used the NSDI Cooperative Agreements Program as a catalyst to formalize collaboration between the university and federal and State agencies in the region. Creating the proposal and receiving funding to create an NSDI Clearinghouse Node for the Shenandoah Valley provided an opportunity to prioritize geospatial data holdings and distribution needs of different agencies and develop a plan for making this information and data available to the community.
