Spatial Data Products for the Georgia Public Health Data Warehouse
Track:  Health Care
Author:   Richard Schreiber

The Georgia Department of Human Resources Division of Public Health is developing a series of spatially aggregated data products to support health planning and health assessment. These products will be central to the development of a data-driven public health enterprise using data warehousing and data mining techniques. This paper describes the methodology for developing and deploying these data products over the five orthogonal dimensions of where, when, race, age, and sex for the Georgia vital record data sets in combination with other programmatic data. Methods include address matching, spatial joins with ArcView GIS, user applications in Visual Basic using MapObjects, and ODBC connectivity.
