Turner Collie & Braden is working on a project with Harris County Flood Control in partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to identify a plan to reduce flooding along Hunting Bayou in Harris County, Texas. This project is one of 11 projects made possible as a result of congressional legislation incorporated into the Water Resource Development Act of 1996 and referred to as Section 211(f). This paper will discuss how GIS was used to identify floodplains for different flood reduction plan alternatives as well as analyze the economic impact of the plans.
