Utility Permit Internet Map System: Phoenix Takes Process Online
Track:  GIS on the Internet
Author:   William Bayham

The City of Phoenix recently launched an Internet Map Server application designed to streamline its utilities permitting process and provide seamless service to public utility companies. Designed as an Extranet (agency to agency) application, the system links employees of licensed utility companies to real-time interactive maps and live databases to assist them in their infrastructure design processes and also enable them to submit and track the progress of their permit applications over the Internet. This paper addresses technology integration concepts associated with the system in addition to implementation approaches and system benefits.
