A very small team of ArcView GIS developers employed by the Department of Defense supports users at Fort Meade and throughout the entire defense and intelligence communities. These five people provide applications development for a huge range of applications. A single extension-building tool is employed, which means that only one developer needed to become an extension expert, freeing the others to concentrate on their actual applications. Similarly, utility extensions for Web interface, military coordinate conversion, and security, among others, are used to stretch our limited developer resources.
