Creating a GIS-Enabled Imagery Analysis and Production Environment
Track:  Defense and Intelligence
Author:   Susan Kalweit

This paper will show how the National Imagery and Mapping Agency (NIMA) has begun to incorporate GIS technologies into its imagery analysis and production processes. The incorporation of GIS into the analysis and production environment is expected to improve the quality of the imagery intelligence information NIMA provides to its customers. Some examples will be provided. In addition to some of the successes of recent initiatives, there have been technical and human factor challenges to overcome. Some examples of these challenges will be provided. Finally, a view of the future of GIS at NIMA will be discussed.
