Developing GIS Exercises for Non-GIS Courses
Track:  Universities and Higher Education
Author:   Christine Crown

Many exercises have been developed that teach how to use GIS software. However, the focus in introductory courses such as earth science, sociology, human geography and others is to use GIS to teach content rather than to teach GIS skills. This paper will discuss some of the issues that arise when developing exercises for non-GIS courses. Example exercises using ArcView GIS and MapObjects will be demonstrated.
