More than 150 GIS layers have been collected in Krkonose National Park (Czech Republic) (51 degrees N, 15 degrees E) to characterize environmental and forestry conditions. A GIS study was accomplished to synthesize existing information and to prepare clear and understandable outputs for forestry and nature management practice. Several GIS techniques were used to process spatial data. Point data of terrestrial forest monitoring has been processed using a cokriging technique with DTM and classified Landsat TM images as covariables. The weighted map overlay analysis method (multicriteria analysis) was used to process sets of qualitatively different GIS layers and produce ecological zonation of Krkonose National Park according to the level of environmental stress and level of forest health response. A computer application based on Esri's MapObjects software has been developed to make the results of GIS analysis easily accessible to the management staff.
