The Ventura County Fire Protection Agency has created a series of custom ArcView GIS extensions that incorporate all the standard Incident Command System (ICS) symbology developed by the State of California for incident mapping. These extensions include modules for important GPS data, manipulating the various ArcView GIS graphic types (points, lines, polylines, etc.), creating and modifying the ICS symbology, and creating standard map products. With these now standard applications, a Ventura County Fire Department incident commander can expect an initial attack map within 30 minutes of acquiring the necessary incident data.
