This presentation will define several elevation data types including contours, DEM, DTM, and radar. The objective of this discussion is to develop an understanding of elevation data so correct interpretations are derived. Data illustrations are used to convey advantages and disadvantages of these data types. A summary of the automation methods, accuracy, and appropriate application for each type of elevation data will also be accomplished. Another portion of the discussion will show ways to store elevation data in ArcInfo for optimal use in ARC GRID and ArcView 3D Analyst.
