A conservation priority model has been developed by graduate students in the School of Natural Resources and Environment at the University of Michigan to identify high, medium, and low conservation priorities in the Pinckney and Waterloo state recreation areas (SRAs). This model has three main goals (1) expand the conservation of the SRAs and the important ecosystems within them, (2) minimize the human impacts on the landscape including urban and agricultural land uses, and (3) protect ecologically important areas. This GIS model was built using ArcInfo, ArcView GIS, and ArcView Spatial Analyst software.
