Enterprise GIS at a Medium-Size Water/Wastewater Utility
Track:  Water Distribution, Wastewater, Sewer
Author:   James A Ollerton

The small to medium-size water/wastewater utility can benefit greatly from a geographic information system. GIS is a powerful tool that can assist in departmental decision making. Getting GIS out to the masses of an organization has substantial benefits. From a water superintendent accessing pipeline statistics to the general manager researching potential land purchases, almost anyone in the organization can benefit from enterprise access to the GIS. Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District has implemented an enterprisewide GIS that extends to all departments and over 15 disciplines. This presentation will discuss the methods EVMWD used for enterprise access and some of the key benefits gained by different departments.
