JPI, a luxury apartment developer based in Irving, Texas, has had tremendous growth as it pursues new markets, developments, and acquisitions nationwide. GIS has been an important tool utilized to help solve the challenges this growth has presented. This paper focuses on how the JPI Market Research Team employs ArcView GIS and ArcView 3D Analyst to visualize projects from initial site selection to final site design. Analysis includes creating three-dimensional thematic maps of socioeconomic variables when looking for new sites and models to visualize the project design in the existing landscape once prospective sites have been identified.
