MAP: T-Mobil's Enterprise Mapping System for Internet, Extranet, and Intranet Usage

To stay ahead in Germany�s highly competitive telecommunications market, T-Mobil--one of Europe�s leading providers of wireless services based on GSM--has to provide first class service to its demanding customers. Part of the service is the provision of geographical information related to T-Mobil�s business. GISData Server (GDS), Spatial Database Engine (SDE), and ArcInfo, state-of-the-art technology provided by Esri, enable T-Mobil to achieve this aim. MAP visualizes � Up-to-date GSM coverages provided by T-Mobil in Germany � Up-to-date GSM coverages provided by international roaming partners worldwide � Trouble ticketing information � The location of T-Mobil�s dealers in Germany � The location of T-Mobil�s branches in Germany MAP Uses the � Internet (for customers) � Intranet (for customer care, marketing, sales, and technical departments) � Extranet (for partners of T-Mobil such as dealers and service providers) The information described above is provided for several target groups, according to their access rights inside and outside the company. This supports T-Mobil�s constant communication strategy in a unique way. Esri�s ArcInfo carries out the preprocessing of geographical information in order to enable fast geodata access. Esri�s GDS and SDE provide quick online access to the required information within a few seconds. This offers a new dimension especially for usage in a very demanding customer care environment and helps T-Mobil to reach the following aims: � Establishment of customer self-service via the Internet (business-to-customer) � Establishment of partner self-service via the Extranet (business-to-business) � Reduction of customer calls for the customer care department because of new self-service � Increased number of customer calls that can be answered by first-level call center agents � New self-service and improved response time that help T-Mobil to save a few million dollars per year Conclusion: State-of-the-art technology helps companies to stay competitive in the age of the Internet. Esri�s GISData Server and Esri�s Spatial Database Engine are powerful tools that open T-Mobil to a new dimension in business-to-customer and business-to-business communication.
