The Consortium of Coachella Valley Tribes is situated in the Salton Sea watershed in Southern California and includes the Morongo, Agua Caliente, Augustine, Twenty-Nine Palms, and Torres-Martinez Indian reservations. GIS technology is being utilized to facilitate development and visualization of a conceptual groundwater flow model, watershed analysis, and wellhead protection area delineation. The presentation summarizes activities on this work in progress including development of a GIS coverage, its application to project objectives, and its use in launching the Native American Environmental Information Network, a new telecommunications hot line geared to environmental issues facing Native people and lands.
