SDE Toolkit from ERIM International, Inc., contains a unique, innovative algorithm, DBTrac, to match GPS coordinates from moving vehicles to the correct road that those vehicles are actually traveling. This is done by completely understanding where that vehicle has been and where it is going. Initial tests have indicated that this can be done with or without differentially corrected GPS. ERIM has also implemented modules to help the users of this information discover new knowledge about the information stored in the database. Once the correct road segment is stored with the GPS point several analysis tasks can take place, for instance: * Road maps showing percent complete of route applications by road segments *Road maps showing number of passes made on road segments *Real-time generation of lines and points, for tracking, that match the street map exactly This paper will discuss both the SDE Toolkit and show examples of DBTrac in an automated vehicle location system.
