Merging Survey Workflows with GIS Data Storage Solutions

In a very short time Chesapeake Midstream has experienced explosive growth and with that a daunting challenge to maintain survey data related to their 10,000 miles of pipeline. Chesapeake manages a tremendous amount of survey data on new projects as well as producing after-built data for legacy projects. The goals for their solution were to house all survey point data in a single feature class regardless of the source, retain existing survey workflows, provide enterprise wide access to the data and maximize productivity and efficiency in field data collection. They have utilized a combination of in house customization as well as 3rd party software solutions such as Cartopac Field Solutions.

This presentation will examine Chesapeake Midstream's survey data challenges and solution to storage, maintenance and production of survey data.
