Creating Business Opportunities Utilizing GIS in Land Ownership

The objective of this project was to create an ideal ostrich farm in El Paisaje Ranch, Santa Cruz, Bolivia. The primary tool used is a geographic information system to optimize property land usage, existing infrastructure, basic utilities (electric and water), hydrology performances, road usage, and topographic, socio-economic resources, environment usage, and esthetically appealing design. The methods used in this project were a combination of existing data (printed maps, aerial photogrammetry, and cadastral database) with new created data applicable to enhance the ranch's performance. The final outcome was the creation of a GIS program intended to guide the creation of this ideal ostrich farm to optimize production and obtain higher profits. This project was important because it was the largest ostrich farm in the nation with high potential of revenue. GIS was utilizing to obtain higher profits by reducing all possible costs.
