Abstract

Fast Track to FEMAs Letter of Map Amendment/eLOMA Process
Track: Training
Authors: Sarah Ice

This presentation is targeted for licensed land surveyors and professional engineers (Licensed Professionals) who are interested in learning ways they can fast track their Letter of Map Amendment (LOMA) submittals and/or pending eLOMA audits. Most of the LOMA applications and audited eLOMAs submitted to FEMA require additional data in order for a determination to be completed, thus slowing down the overall process and causing headaches to the applicant. Licensed Professionals will experience less difficulty throughout the LOMA/eLOMA process if they follow these important tips.
This presentation will cover in detail the eLOMA process, the audit process, data requirements, statistics on eLOMA, the advantages of eLOMA, and the eLOMA registration process. This presentation will also illustrate how the Licensed Professional can submit all required supporting information for any eLOMA audit (i.e. no additional information needs to be requested by the eLOMA Coordinator), avoid future audits, and decrease the overall turnaround time.
We will also discuss the history of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and point out important dates that have changed the program over the decades. Significant federal rules and regulations will be reviewed, mortgage lenders responsibilities, and what course of actions are required after a LOMC has been obtained. Lastly, examples of what would constitute a complete LOMA application will be presented to allow the Licensed Professional to have a better understanding of the FEMA application process going forward.
A few exercises on LOMCs/eLOMA processing will be incorporated into the presentation. The exercises will focus on the LOMC application and process. The eLOMA demonstration will aid the Licensed Professionals in submitting more eLOMA applications that require no corrections (if selected for audit). Any questions on the submittal process of a LOMA or eLOMA heading into this presentation will be answered as we go through specific step-by-step instructions.
