For many interested in a university-leve surveying education finding a program nearby is impossible. NSPS is considering an innovative way of solving this problem by seeking collaboration between potential students, existing four-year degree programs and regional universities and colleges. The basic plan introduces cameras to lectures at existing ABET-accredited programs. This survey-degree-specific content would be provided under individual agreements between the survey programs and local institutions. Local schools provide majority of non-degree specific content; degrees come from the source or local institution, by prior arrangement. Providing and hosting institutions would split revenues. Additional fees would be charged students to support the additional communications, academic support and administrative support overhead. Students would benefit by not having to travel far to attend a surveying program and by adding opportunities to engage in study on a part-time basis. This paper will present more details and progress that has occurred in promoting this effort.
