Integrating ArcView GIS with Other Applications to Better Manage and Visualize Environmental Data

Tasked by the Department of the Navy, Northern Division, we developed a GIS project to help manage and visualize the environmental data collected from the long-term monitoring project at the naval air station in Brunswick, Maine. In this paper, I will discuss how we used ArcView GIS, EquIS Geology, RockWorks, Groundwater Modeling System (GMS), AutoCAD, and Surfer to generate groundwater contour and flow direction maps, total VOC trend diagrams over the 14 monitoring events, geologic cross sections and fence diagrams, and 3D plume models and integrated them into the GIS project.
