Land use is a key input in water distribution and wastewater collection system master plans. Most agencies have developed several land use data sources that can be used for developing a master plan land use database. ArcView GIS can also be used to develop a customized interface to link the land use database with the GIS data sources. This paper will discuss a proven approach to develop these land use databases and will present a case study to illustrate the process.
